What are dental crowns and what they are used for

Dental Crowns That Rival Natural Teeth

To place dental crowns, we first prepare the teeth by removing decay or damage and building up the internal tooth structure. Our team then captures an impression of your teeth to send to our dental lab for fabrication of your permanent dental crown. We place a temporary dental crown over the prepared tooth to allow for normal function while your final crown is being made (usually one to two weeks). On your final visit, we permanently cement your new dental crown and ensure total biting comfort.

Restore Biting Function with Bridges

Bridges essentially are a series of dental crowns fabricated as a single appliance. Each end of the bridge sits over neighboring teeth healthy enough to provide long-term support. The middle portion of the bridge spans the space left by tooth loss, and gives the appearance of a natural-looking tooth. Like dental crowns, bridges are created in a professional dental lab. After we prepare adjacent teeth to support the bridge, we create a temporary bridge to be worn until the final bridge is ready. Your permanent bridge is then cemented in place and instructions for homecare are provided by our team.
